It was an easy drive to the highest point in the state of Kansas. Once you arrive you will see an unbroken 360-degree panorama of ranch and farmland. As a matter of fact, the site is on a private working cattle ranch pasture. So let's go take a look and watch your step!

I figure this museum had been on my bucket list to visit for 60 years until I accidentally discovered it was close to another destination to document a couple of WRCA Ranch Rodeos. Lucky me!
I met Don Sweet the owner, and he agreed to share his story and take us on a personal tour of the part of the museum containing artifacts connected to the infamous old-west outlaw called Billy The Kid. Let's go!

I continued to explore the rest of the museum on my own and found many wonderful artifacts, from the old west days to the rockabilly days.

I traveled to Fort Sumner, New Mexico to document two WRCA qualifying rodeos that can be viewed on my WRCA Ranch Rodeo playlist. I sued some of my free time looking for Agates and Jaspers in the Pecos River in addition to Quartz crystals I used to call Pecos Valley Diamonds during my childhood days in Roswell.
Here is a sample of some of the ranch rodeo action.
I look forward to an opportunity to return and explore more stories in Fort Sumner. I did discover the Billy The Kid Museum and there is a link to a two-part video tour but I did not get a chance to explore the Busque Redondo ant other possible sites. If you have some suggestions please Contact Us!

I enjoyed having enough free time to visit this wonderfully restored train depot while I was in town documenting the rodeo. The depot was built between 1909-1910 and served as the Texas headquarters of Artur Stilwell's Kansas City, Mexico, and Orient Railroads (KCM&O). Now the depot houses the Railway Museum of San Angelo. One of the docents was very kind to give us a tour, so let's go!

Neches is an unincorporated community in east central Anderson County, in the U.S. state of Texas. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 175 in 2000. It is located within the Palestine, Texas micropolitan area. I was not there to visit the community itself but to a wonderful annual event held on the Diamond B Ranch just a few miles from the Post Office here. Send me your suggestions about other places and events to explore in the area.
Annual Events
This is one of my favorite scenes from one of the many events at The 1836 featuring Moon Swanson who operates the Diamond B Ranch and is the host of the annual celebration of Texas Independence. Click the link above for more details and videos.
