The small community of Roaring Springs, Texas is located in the middle of small farms and giant cattle ranches. I have been here dozens of times since 1964 for a number of reasons, but my recent visits have been for the Motley Dickens Old Settlers Reunion. The ranch rodeos in past years have been sanctioned by the WRCA and WRRA.
The population of Motley and Dickinson Counties is so small that the two counties hold a joint reunion weekend swelling the local human count to more than ten times normal. The celebrations include the shortest community parade I have ever documented.
I plan to return for more sights and sounds I have not explored in the area yet. If you have a suggestion I would like to hear from you! Contact Us

Fort Concho National Historic Landmark is the best-preserved 1800s military fort I have visited so far. A lot of that has to do with how the city of San Angelo, Texas leased out some of the buildings for commercial, non-profit, and residential uses. The Fort Concho Foundation was established in 1976 to provide an additional level of support for the site, with funds helping to restore the fort, create special programming, attract new exhibits, bring guest speakers, and generally assist with many larger and longer-term projects that the fort’s general operating budget can not accommodate.
This site is a large place and I had to break up my visit into three parts that you can view embedded below. Click on the full-screen symbol in the video player to get the big picture.

The annual WRCA World Championship Ranch Rodeo is held at the Amarillo Civic Center in November each year in Amarillo Texas. Fourteen working ranch teams who have won a berth in WRCA Ranch Rodeo qualifying events have an opportunity to compete for the world championship title.
I began covering the events by focusing on the dedicated volunteers who make it possible to host all the competitors and their families, vendors, and thousands of spectators. Here are a few examples of the volunteers in action and other scenes during World Championship week.

Earth, Texas is a small community in West Texas where farming is a primary occupation. But the residents do love a good rodeo and once a year the WRCA sanctions three qualifying ranch rodeos on a Friday and Saturday including a Youth Rodeo. The rodeos are usually held on the second week in September.
The area surrounding Earth is relatively very flat which is great for farming and a parody of the Flat Earth Theory. So I decided to make a short video about it and wound up driving some Flat Earthers a reason to expose themselves in the video comments. Ha!
And something that seems hilarious to me is that YouTube thought it proper to place a context statement from Wikipedia just below the video if you watch it on YouTube and you can see a warning box on the thumbnail above. I guess they didn't get the joke either. Haha!!

I visited Pawnee, Oklahoma mainly to document the Oklahoma Steam Show which happens to be the largest show of its kind in Oklahoma. I did manage to check out a few other places in the area that I will be sharing with you in time.
I am currently posting videos from the steam show and here is an example of a crowd-favorite activity from Friday night 2022.
