The Wheat Growers Hotel opened in 1890 in the tiny town of Kimball, Nebraska to serve passengers traveling on the first transcontinental railroad in the United States. It was considered a large structure at that time and known to serve wealthy travelers with a plush environment and service. The structure is not open to the general public currently as steps are being taken to restore the hotel as a registered historic landmark.
The video above is the first part of an attempt to explore the building and some of its stories and more segments appear on this page below.

Not much remains of the combined power and ice plant except the building itself built in 1914 to serve the needs of the community of Kimball, Nebraska. The power plant remains in operation so it is not open to the public. But thanks to a local historian we get to explore the facility and the vintage diesel and natural gas-powered engines used to generate electricity.
We cover a number of topics along the way including the need to maintain old reliable equipment for power generation when renewable energy sources fail to supply enough power to meet demand when the wind doesn't blow and the Sun doesn't shine.
Is there an old plant or manufacturing facility still in use in your rural community that deserves more attention to its heritage and stories? I would love to hear from you! Contact Us

I documented as much as I could of The 1836 Chuckwagon Races 2022 held on the Diamond B Ranch near Neches, Texas. It was the tenth year of celebrating Texas's revolutionary history with workshops, demonstrations, trail rides, mounted games, mounted shooting, open pasture roping, bronc riding, barrel racing, horse racing, and yes, several classes of chuckwagon races.

Pawhuska is a city in northeastern Oklahoma known for its Native American culture. Photos, tribal objects and artwork at the Osage Nation Museum trace the history of the area’s Osage people. Built in 1926, the wood-planked Swinging Bridge hangs over Bird Creek. A trail connects fish-filled Bluestem Lake to scenic Bluestem Falls. To the north, the vast Tallgrass Prairie Preserve is home to bison, deer, and coyotes. ― Google
I visited Pawhuska for the Ben Johnson Days annual celebration in 2021 and 2022. I went the first year to cover the WRCA ranch rodeos and discovered there was much more to Pahuska than just the rodeos. It is also the capital of the Osage Nation!
Here is a short visit to the Osage Nation Visitors Center,
