2022 was the first year to document the West Texas Ranch Rodeo, a qualifying rodeo sanctioned by the Working Ranch Cowboys Association (WRCA), and held in the Will Rogers Range Riders Arena in Amarillo, Texas. The top ranch team in these rodeos will compete in the annual WRCA World Championship Ranch Rodeo.
I am just starting publishing videos of the rodeo events available every Friday on Dusty Reins Stories and American Heartlands Channel.
The first event was Ranch Bronc Riding and YouTube censored the original documentary but you can watch the original uncensored version on Rumble or embedded below.

The Mounted Shooting playlist below currently contains 36 documentary videos recorded over four years in the #AmericanHeartlands. The latest series is from a CMSA-sanctioned competition in Queen Creek, Arizona.
As far as I know, there are two mounted shooting organizations in the USA. I first discovered the Cowboy Mounted Mounted Shooting Association (CMSA) because they hold their World Finals competition in my hometown of Amarillo, Texas. Then, by pure luck, I discovered the United States Mounted Shooting (USMS) while covering other stuff in Vernon, Texas.
The full playlist of all the mounted shooting is viewable below, but I would like to highlight a special exhibition run during the most recent USMS shooting competition because it was the only time I saw it. The shooter is Moon Swanson, the host of the 1836 Chuckwagon Race on the Diamond B Ranch near Neches, Texas.

Bandera, Texas is located northwest of San Antonio and has been named the "Cowboy Capitol of the World" by the Texas Legislature. The small community is a popular tourist destination for its cowboy history and entertainment. I am publishing videos from my short visit and adding a few photos and commentary to this page, so stay tuned for more.

I fell in love with this annual celebration of heritage in Roaring Springs, Texas back in 1974. I have been returning whenever possible even though it is held during the last part of what is usually a hot August. Most of the action takes place in the rodeo arena with roping jackpots, ranch horse reining competitions, and qualifying ranch rodeos sanctioned by the WRCA and WRRA organizations.
Then there are other activities such as goat roping in the morning, a live band old-timers dance in the late afternoon along with washer pitching, kids' bouncy fun all day, and a live dance band after the rodeos featuring the best Western Swing bands available.
2023 - 100 years of Rodeo!
As per recent years, this year was a mixture of WRCA-sanctioned ranch teams and rodeo events and several non-sanctioned events.
