This rodeo was an open competition including ranch teams in events sanctioned by the WRCA Ranch Rodeo Association (WRCA) but there were unsanctioned events as well. I just published the first sanctioned event and it received a copyright claim on YouTube so I have provided the uncensored version below hosted by Rumble on the American Heartlands Channel

I fell in love with this annual celebration of heritage in Roaring Springs, Texas back in 1974. I have been returning whenever possible even though it is held during the last part of what is usually a hot August. Most of the action takes place in the rodeo arena with roping jackpots, ranch horse reining competitions, and qualifying ranch rodeos sanctioned by the WRCA and WRRA organizations.
Then there are other activities such as goat roping in the morning, a live band old-timers dance in the late afternoon along with washer pitching, kids' bouncy fun all day, and a live dance band after the rodeos featuring the best Western Swing bands available.
2023 - 100 years of Rodeo!
As per recent years, this year was a mixture of WRCA-sanctioned ranch teams and rodeo events and several non-sanctioned events.

The Wellington Pro Rodeo, sanctioned by UPRA, is an annual event held at the Wellington Fairgrounds Arena in Wellington, Texas. I was permitted to document all three rodeos held June 29 - July 1, 2023. The rodeos feature all the standard pro rodeo events with Mutton Bustin', Ranch Bronc Riding, and Calf Scramble added in. I am including examples of some of the rodeo events below as they are published on Dusty Reins Stories and American Heartlands Channel on Saturdays.

Cal Farley established Boys Ranch in 1939 on the old townsite of Tascosa, Texas, the first town established in the Texas Panhandle. Boys Ranch today provides a home and education for at-risk boys and girls ages 5 - 18 on a working ranch of 12,000 acres of land.
The ranch celebrates its western heritage with an annual rodeo on Memorial Day weekend which I have documented with still photography in past years but had the privilege to document with video in 2023. The full rodeo can be seen on Dusty Reins Stories if you are a channel Fan Club member. Individual events can be watched below.
