I found out about the annual Spicer Gripp Memorial Roping in Hereford, Texas from a viewer who said it was a high-quality competition with a mixture of invitational and open events for amateurs and professionals alike. That was a great suggestion and I am providing a few samples here of the action in the arena and on the grounds during the several days of competition held on the first weekend in August.
Most of the events had their short-go rounds on Sunday the last day of competition but unfortunately, my schedule did not allow me to stay for the last day during my first visit in 2021. I did return in 2024 and managed to document all the adult competitions through the finals on Sunday.
The announcer is Reed Flake who does a great job here just like he does for the Wiley Hicks Jr. Memorial Roping in Amarillo. He also has his own YouTube channel! @TheRodeoVideo
