Highlight Video

Every once in a while, I see comments on my videos accusing me of generating clickbait. Funny thing is, I never chose to generate anything like that because, as an old-school trained journalist, I am only into sharing factual information unless I tell you I am sharing my perspective.  I admit that I did some crafting to see if I could actually create a video just to

test a factual caption attached to a thumbnail image that may pique a viewer's interest in watching the video. The video itself is a short clip from a longer video you can watch by clicking on "The Bank Robbery" By The Cheyenne Gunslingers if you are interested in seeing the whole public event.

Test results? The video was first published on Jun 19, 2023. As of writing this entry on Feb 28, 2026, the video has been viewed 451 times and has no comments. Total revenue? $1.55. Clickbait doesn't seem to work for me. What do you think? Contact Us

Updates

I am home near Amarillo, Texas, after spending six weeks in New Mexico and Arizona. I started off the 2025 season by documenting three WRCA ranch rodeos and two PRCA rodeos in Wickenburg. There were opportunities to record a few travel and nature videos along the way, so watch for those. Scout had a new travel buddy who still needed work on water and solar energy systems, so I managed to get that done after getting the required parts.

We decided to take an off-road route to Crown King, Arizona, which turned out to be more of a challenge to drive than expected. Scout could have made it by himself, but pulling the extra weight got us into trouble, as you can see below.

I am thinking of naming our new travel companion "Trouper". What do you think?

Past Highlights

This has to be the whackiest race of all. Imagine hitching up a couple of mules to a children's toy car to see how fast that mostly plastic little car can go behind a team running flat out on a straight course. Do the cars survive? Watch and find out!

The miniature broncs in the above video may be the rankest rides I have ever documented. The riders did a terrific job of staying on as long as they did. I hope you will give it a look because this is about as good as it gets!

I would like to highlight a special exhibition run during the most recent USMS shooting competition because it was the only time I have seen it. The shooter is Moon Swanson the host of the 1836 Chuckwagon Race on the Diamond B Ranch near Neches, Texas.

It has been a while since I could document some mounted shooting. But luck would bring me a good series while I was in the Queen Creek area of Arizona early in 2024. This series of competitions is aligned with CMSA and I haven't been able to document their events for several years. I am glad it worked out!

This video includes one of the highest-scoring Bull Rides (89 points) I have ever documented.  Most of the viewers so far never see that bull in the thumbnail because they didn't watch long enough. Not real rodeo fans huh? If you watch to the end, you will see some real fireworks!

Past Travel Notes

Black Mesa State Park was in my office view last of September 2024 as I edited videos to upload for publishing and making new additions to my website. Dakota has been a good travel partner so far, but we don't know when or where we will travel next.

I am thinking about sharing some of my travel and camping experiences Got any suggestions about places to go and things to do? Contact Us

If you would like to see where I have been traveling for events and adventure, see my Dusty Reins Travel Map where I have created videos and even some of my favorite camping spots. Your travel suggestions are always welcomed Contact Us!

Dusty Reins Schedule

You may see several events on the same day. I can only pick one to go next depending on where I was located during the prior event I attended. Fuel is expensive these days!
