American Heartlands & Dusty Reins Stories
Crazy Horse Monument

I have decades of memories, tons of photos, and a few videos captured in Palo Duro Canyon State Park. But I don't have the time to go into all of that for now. I will share a few videos for now and expand when I come across old or new material to add.

The canyon is rich with history and the video above was recorded during the 135th observance of the Battle Of Palo Duro and the end of the Red River War You can find that video and related ones on The First Americans playlist.

There is a bird-watching and photography blind in the park where I have recorded several videos of the native and migrating feathered friends visiting the feeders and watering hole. You can find the other videos on the Nature playlist. I mostly enjoy the park for its flora, fauna, and geology.

Years ago, there were a lot of attractions and entertainment just outside the state park with cowboy breakfasts and dramedy shoot-outs!  A lot has changed since there was a miniature train ride and a gondola ride inside the park. I should go back and document some updates.

Here is a vintage silent film that includes some footage of the canyon before WWII. You can find the rest of the films on the Vintage SPS Films playlist.

But old memories are like jewels in a treasure chest to me so I will leave you with some musical entertainment performed by some of my dearest friends recorded at the Elkins Ranch just outside the park.

Dusty Reins Schedule

You may see several events on the same day. I can only pick one to go next depending on where I was located during the prior event I attended. Fuel is expensive these days!
