Come explore the rural heartlands of the American West with me in search of people, places, events, culture, and history. I love traveling all around the American West visiting small communities getting to know the people who live there.

The American Heartlands playlist embedded below presents some of the stories of people and places I have managed to document so far. The latest adventures are shown first in the list so be sure to review the whole list for more to explore on a wide range of subjects. If you live west of the Mississippi, feel free to contact me for tips about what is going on in your small community that you would like to see me cover.

Fort Wallace MuseumI had the opportunity to spend four days documenting the Fort Wallace Museum in Wallace, Kansas along with three days of living history hosted by the museum during September 2021. I recorded many hours of video and more than 100 photos of the facilities and activities and will attempt to present those materials on this page and associated pages.

Cowgirl Holding Flag The Mission statement for Dusty Reins Stories is: Documenting Today For Tomorrow's History. The Life Today playlist available below features videos recorded in many of the communities I have traveled to. The majority of these stories originate in what many say is the "Real America" where people don't live like rats in congested cities. I will attempt to give you an update every Tuesday about what I discover is happening in the places I explore for #HeritagePreservation in #RealAmerica

Cowgirls compete in ranch rodeo.I have documented a number of events featuring cowgirls in competitive events and have interviewed some as well the past three years. So I decided to create a playlist for videos where cowgirls are featured and will be adding much more of them as time goes on.

WRCA RodeosAll events from all four of the 2019 WRCA World Championship Ranch Rodeos held in Amarillo, Texas have been published and are available for binge or selective viewing on a playlist on our sister channel Amarillo Chronicles. Add to your YouTube channel library for easy viewing or watch below! #WRCA #RanchRodeo #AmarilloChronicles

Bucking horses.Bronc Riding is a popular sport in both ranch rodeos and pro-rodeos and there are now more than 100 original bronc riding videos now available on Dusty Reins Stories. I have provided the Bronc Riding playlist below and you can see the total videos continue to grow in the upper right portion of the screen. You will want to watch these events to the end because many of the best rides happen at the end due to fierce competition and all re-rides are taken at the end of each event. BroncRiding has been one of the most popular events in most rodeos for more than 150 years. The skills of horse and rider are pitted against one another for eight seconds to achieve a qualified ride where points are awarded to the performances of horse and rider to reach a total score. There are three major types of competition including Bareback, Saddle, and Ranch Broncs. This playlist on Dusty Reins Stories includes all three types. #BuckingHorses #BarebackBroncs #SaddleBroncs #RanchBroncs #BroncRiding

Short Videos Playlist

Most of the least-watched videos on the Dusty Reins Stories channel were published when the channel was still new. Now that there are more than 600 videos on the channel it appears these early videos have been buried and YouTube never seems to suggest them. So I have gathered up the shorter videos and put them on the playlist below in order to give them a boost and show you a variety of subjects I have covered since the channel was created. Subscribe to the channel and tap the notification bell to get notifications when new videos are published. Thank you for your support! #ShortFilms
