PBR Bull Riding For CharityWho would want to ban a non-profit for charity rodeo video from being viewed from any place on Earth? Well, apparently AC/DC does. So we banned them from the video!

All of the public events we document and publish on the Dusty Reins Stories YouTube Channel are either community or non-profit events. Invariably, there is the possibility that the recording will contain fractions of music protected by US Copyright Law. The law allows for Fair Use of such content as expressed by:  Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for fair use for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use.

All of our films also adhere to the Documentary Filmmakers’ Statement of Best Practices In Fair Use - Class Three. While we are striving to ensure all our usage of intellectual property is both legal and ethical, there are entities with deep pockets who do not.

So rather than taking on an expensive lawsuit, we chose to ban AC/DC from this documentary film of an event for charity and thus altering the true historical record. Another copyright holder wanted to take all revenue generated by the film on YouTube for some 13 seconds of music. So we banned them too. All the music was out of our control as it was broadcast over the PA during the event.

So there you go AC/DC. You have forced us to alter history in order to help out a charitable cause and document of our historical record. Proud of that?
